⁵² I remember your ·laws [judgments] from long ago,
    and they comfort me, Lord.

Listen to this, all you ·nations [peoples];
    ·listen [^Lgive ear], all you who live on earth.
² Listen, both ·great [high] and ·small [low],
    rich and poor together.
³ ·What I say is wise [^LMy mouth speaks wisdom],
    and ·my heart speaks with [^Lthe meditation of my heart is] understanding.
⁴ I will ·pay attention [extend my ear] to a ·wise saying [proverb];
    I will ·explain [solve] my riddle on the ·harp [lyre].

⁵ Why should I ·be afraid of [fear] ·bad [evil] days?
    ·Why should I fear when evil people […when the guilt of deceivers/the treacherous] surround me?
⁶ They ·trust [find refuge] in their ·money [wealth]
    and ·brag [boast] about their riches.
⁷ No one can ·buy back [ransom; redeem] the life of ·another [or a brother].
    No one can ·pay [^Lgive a ransom to] God for his own life,
⁸ because the ·price [ransom; redemption] of a life is ·high [precious].
    No payment is ever enough.
⁹ Do people live forever?

¹⁰ See, even wise people die.
    Fools and stupid people also ·die [perish; Eccl. 2:12–16]
    and ·leave [abandon; forsake] their wealth to others.

    even though they named places after themselves.

The Unbelieving Fool

Fools say ·to themselves [^Lin their hearts],
    “There is no God [^CPsalm 14 largely parallels this psalm].”
·Fools are evil [^LThey are corrupt] and do ·terrible [detestable] things [Deut. 32:5];
    none of them does anything good.

² God looked down from heaven on all people
    to see if anyone was ·wise [insightful],
    if anyone was ·looking to God for help [seeking God].
³ But all have ·turned [wandered] away.
    Together, everyone has become ·evil [perverse];
    none of them does anything good.
Not a single person [Rom. 3:10–12].

⁴ Don’t ·the wicked [^Lthose who do evil] ·understand [know]?
    They ·destroy [consume; ^Leat] my people as if they were ·eating [consuming] bread.
    They do not ·ask God for help [call on God].
⁵ The wicked are ·filled [terrified] with terror

    God will scatter the bones of ·your enemies [the godless].

Ishmael Is Born

Sarai, Abram’s wife, had no children, but she had a slave girl from Egypt named Hagar.  

² Sarai said to Abram, “Look, the Lord has ·not allowed me to have [^Lprevented/restrained me from having] children, so ·have sexual relations with [^Lgo to] my slave girl. If she has a child, maybe I can ·have my own family [reproduce; have a child; ^Lbuild] through her [^Ctaking a second wife or concubine was common for a childless couple at the time].”

Abram did what Sarai said. ³ It was after he had lived ten years in Canaan that Sarai gave Hagar to her husband Abram as a ·wife [or concubine]. (Hagar was her slave girl from Egypt.)
⁴ Abram ·had sexual relations with [^Lwent in to] Hagar, and she ·became pregnant [conceived]. When Hagar learned she ·was pregnant [conceived], she began to ·treat [look on] her mistress Sarai ·badly [with contempt]. ⁵ Then Sarai said to Abram, “·This is your fault [^LMay the wrong/violence done to me be on you]. Hebrews 9:15-28 – Expanded Bible

For this reason Christ ·brings a new agreement from God to his people [^Lis the mediator of a new covenant/contract]. Those who are called by God can now receive the eternal ·blessings [inheritance] he has promised. They can have those things because Christ died to ·set them free [redeem them] from the ·sins [transgressions; violations] committed under the first agreement [covenant; contract].
¹⁶ When there is a ·will [last will and testament; ^Cthe same Greek word translated “agreement” in v. 15; the author develops his illustration from the various meanings of the word], it must be proven that the one who wrote that ·will [last will and testament] is dead. ¹⁷ [^LFor; Because] A ·will [last will and testament] ·means nothing [carries no force] while the person is alive; it can ·be used [take effect] only after the person dies. ¹⁸ This is why even the first ·agreement [covenant; contract; ^Cthe same Greek word as “will” in vv. 16–17] could not ·begin [be inaugurated/put into effect] without blood [^Cthe death of a sacrificial animal]. ¹⁹ First, Moses told all the people every command in the law. Next he took the blood of calves^[a] and mixed it with water. Christ’s Death Takes Away Sins

Jesus Has God’s Authority

But Jesus ·said [answered them], “·I tell you the truth [^LTruly, truly I say to you], the Son can do nothing ·alone [on his own initiative; by himself]. The Son does only what he sees the Father doing, ·because the Son does whatever the Father does [^Lfor whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise]. ²⁰ [^LFor] The Father loves the Son and shows the Son all the things he himself does. But the Father will show the Son even greater things than this so that you can all ·be amazed [marvel; be astonished]. ²¹ [^LFor] Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to those he ·wants to [wishes; wills].  

²² ·In fact, [or For] the Father judges no one, but he has ·given [entrusted to] the Son ·power to do all the judging [^Lall judgment; Rev. 20:11–15] ²³ so that all people will honor the Son as much as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

– Говорю вам истину: Сын ничего не может делать Сам от Себя, пока не увидит Отца делающим. То, что делает Отец, делает и Сын. ²⁰ Ведь Отец любит Сына и показывает Ему все, что делает Сам, и вы удивитесь, потому что Он покажет Ему более великие дела. ²¹ Точно так, как Отец воскрешает мертвых и дает им жизнь, так и Сын дает жизнь тем, кому хочет. ²² Более того, Отец никого не судит, Он доверил весь суд Сыну, ²³ чтобы все почитали Сына, как чтят Отца. Тот, кто не чтит Сына, не чтит и Отца, пославшего Сына.

²⁴ Говорю вам истину: всякий, кто слышит Мое слово и верит Пославшему Меня, имеет жизнь вечную, и ему не придется приходить на суд, он уже перешел из смерти в жизнь. ²⁵ Говорю вам истину: наступает время, и уже наступило, когда мертвые услышат голос Сына Бога, и те, кто услышит, оживут. ²⁶ Потому что, как Отец имеет жизнь в Самом Себе, так Он дал иметь жизнь в Самом Себе и Сыну. ²⁷ Он дал Ему власть судить, потому что Он – Сын Человеческий.

²⁸ Не удивляйтесь этому, потому что настанет время, когда все, кто находится сейчас в могилах, услышат Его голос ²⁹ и выйдут из могил. Те, кто делал добро, воскреснут, чтобы жить, и те, кто делал зло, поднимутся, чтобы получить осуждение.
