I will sing praises to my God as long as breath fills my lungs and blood flows through my veins.

finding the lost, gathering Israel’s outcasts.
3 He binds their wounds,
heals the sorrows of their hearts.
4 He counts all the stars within His hands,
carefully fixing their number
and giving them names.
5 Our Lord is great. Nothing is impossible with His overwhelming power.
He is loving, compassionate, and wise beyond all measure.
6 The Eternal will lift up the lowly
but throw down the wicked to the earth.

Psalm 147 is a postexilic
hymn of praise to God as Creator and Sustainer. It celebrates the rebuilding of
the walls and gates that protect Jerusalem. God secures the city, grants peace
to the border towns, and controls the elements.

those who hate You are rising up!
3 They are conniving against Your people,
conspiring against those You cherish.
4 They say, “Join us. Let’s wipe the entire nation off the face of the earth
so no one will remember Israel’s name.”
5 They are all in it together, thinking as one,
and making a pact against You:
6 The people of Edom and Ishmael;
the Moabites and the Hagrites;
7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the residents of Tyre.
8 And the powerful Assyrians have joined the alliance
to add their strength and support the descendants of Lot: Moab and Ammon.

Now
as soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob and when Jacob had barely left his
father, his brother Esau returned from hunting. 31 He had also
prepared a sumptuous meal and brought it to his father.
Esau: Father, sit up now and eat
the game I have brought for you, so that you can speak a blessing over me.
Isaac: 32 Who are
you?
Esau: I am your son, Esau, your
firstborn!
33 It began to dawn on Isaac
what had happened.
Then Isaac began trembling violently.
Isaac: Who was it then that
hunted game and brought it to me to eat before you came? I
have already given
him my blessing! It’s now too late. He has already received the
blessing.
34 When Esau realized what
happened, he cried out in an angry, loud, and bitter voice.
Esau: Bless me—me also—Father!
Isaac: 35 I
cannot my son. Your brother came deceitfully, and he has taken away your
blessing.
Esau: 36 “Jacob”
is certainly the right name for him! He has once again grabbed me by the
heels! He has deceived me now two times. He took away my birthright, and
now he has taken away my blessing! Have you no blessing reserved for me as
well?

that I have already made him your master. I have declared all of his brothers
are subject to him. I have granted him prosperity, sustained him with
grain and wine. What then could I possibly do for you, my son?

realized the futility of his pleas. He raised his voice, and he cried
pitiably. 39 Isaac spoke over him the only blessing he
thought he could:

fury, because his brother now carried the blessing his father meant for

Listen to me. Your brother Esau is consoling himself by planning to kill you. 43 Do
as I say. Get up and go to my brother Laban’s house in Haran. 44 Stay
with him for a while until your brother has calmed down. 45 Wait
until his anger against you subsides and he forgets what you’ve done to him.
Then I will send for you and bring you back. I don’t want to lose both of you—one
to death and one to punishing exile—in one day!

Romans 12:9-21 -- The Voice
Love others well, and don’t hide behind a mask; love authentically. Despise evil; pursue what is good as if your life depends on it. 10 Live in true devotion to one another, loving each other as sisters and brothers. Be first to honor others by putting them first. 11 Do not slack in your faithfulness and hard work. Let your spirit be on fire, bubbling up and boiling over, as you serve the Lord. 12 Do not forget to rejoice, for hope is always just around the corner. Hold up through the hard times that are coming, and devote yourselves to prayer. 13 Share what you have with the saints, so they lack nothing; take every opportunity to open your life and home to others.
14 If people mistreat or malign you, bless them. Always speak blessings, not curses. 15 If some have cause to celebrate, join in the celebration. And if others are weeping, join in that as well. 16 Work toward unity, and live in harmony with one another. Avoid thinking you are better than others or wiser than the rest; instead, embrace common people and ordinary tasks. 17 Do not retaliate with evil, regardless of the evil brought against you. Try to do what is good and right and honorable as agreed upon by all people. 18 If it is within your power, make peace with all people. 19 Again, my loved ones, do not seek revenge; instead, allow God’s wrath to make sure justice is served. Turn it over to Him. For the Scriptures say, “Revenge is Mine. I will settle all scores.”[a] 20 But consider this bit of wisdom: “If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink; because if you treat him kindly, it will be like heaping hot coals on top of his head.”[b] 21 Never let evil get the best of you; instead, overpower evil with the good.

Jesus (to the crowds):
21 I am leaving this place, and you will look for Me and die in
your sin. For where I am going, you are unable to come.
Jews: 22 Is He
suicidal? He keeps saying, “Where I am going, you are unable to come.”
Jesus: 23 You
originate from the earth below, and I have come from the heavens
above. You are from this world, and I am not. 24 That’s why I
told you that you will die here as a result of your sins. Unless you believe I
am who I have said I am, your sins will lead to your death.
Jews: 25 Who
exactly are You?
Jesus: From the beginning of My
mission, I have been telling you who I am. 26 I have so much to
say about you, so many judgments to render; but if you hear one thing,
hear that the One who sent Me is true, and all the things I have heard from Him
I speak into the world.
27 The people had not
understood that Jesus was teaching about the Father.
Jesus: 28 Whenever
the day comes and you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I
am He. It will be clear then that I am not acting alone, but that I am
speaking the things I have learned directly from the Father. 29 The
One who sent Me is with Me; He has not abandoned Me because I always do what
pleases Him.
30 As Jesus was speaking, many
in the crowd believed in Him.
Even
though many believe, they can not imagine what He means about the lifting up of
the Son of Man.
Jesus (to the new Jewish
believers): 31 If you hear My voice and abide
in My word, you are truly My disciples; 32 you will know the
truth, and that truth will give you freedom.

27 Они не поняли, что Он говорил им об Отце. 28 Тогда Иисус сказал:
– Когда вы вознесете Сына Человеческого, тогда и узнаете, что Я Тот, за Кого Себя
выдаю, и что от Себя Я не делаю ничего, а говорю то, чему Отец научил Меня.
29 Пославший Меня со Мной, Он Меня одного не оставляет, потому что Я делаю то,
что угодно Ему.
30 После этих слов многие поверили в Него.

31 Иисус сказал иудеям, поверившим в Него:– Если вы будете верны Моему учению, то вы действительно Мои ученики. 32 Вы тогда узнаете истину, и истина сделает вас свободными.
