Morning 

Psalm 5

For the music leader. For the flutes. A psalm of David.

5 Hear my words, Lord!
    Consider my groans!
²     Pay attention to the sound of my cries, my king and my God,
        because I am praying to you!
³ Lord, in the morning you hear my voice.
    In the morning I lay it all out before you.
    Then I wait expectantly.
⁴ Because you aren’t a God
    who enjoys wickedness;
    evil doesn’t live with you.
⁵ Arrogant people won’t last long
in your sight;
    you hate all evildoers;
⁶     you destroy liars.
    The Lord despises people who are violent and dishonest.

⁷ But me? I will enter your house
    because of your abundant, faithful love;
    I will bow down at your holy temple,
        honoring you.
⁸ Lord, because of many enemies,
    please lead me in your righteousness.
    Make your way clear,
        right in front of me.
⁹ Because there’s no truth in my enemies’ mouths,
    all they have inside them is destruction.
    Their throats are open graves;
    their tongues slick with talk.
¹⁰ Condemn them, God!
    Let them fail by their own plans.
Throw them out for their many sins
    because they’ve rebelled against you.
¹¹ But let all who take refuge in you celebrate.
    Let them sing out loud forever!
Protect them
    so that all who love your name
    can rejoice in you.
¹² Because you, Lord, bless the righteous.
    You cover them with favor like a shield.

⁴ (5-5) ибо Ты Бог, не любящий беззакония; у Тебя не водворится злой;

⁵ (5-6) нечестивые не пребудут пред очами Твоими: Ты ненавидишь всех, делающих беззаконие.

⁶ (5-7) Ты погубишь говорящих ложь; кровожадного и коварного гнушается Господь.

⁷ (5-8) А я, по множеству милости Твоей, войду в дом Твой, поклонюсь святому храму Твоему в страхе Твоем.

⁸ (5-9) Господи! путеводи меня в правде Твоей, ради врагов моих; уровняй предо мною путь Твой.

⁹ (5-10) Ибо нет в устах их истины: сердце их--пагуба, гортань их--открытый гроб, языком своим льстят.

¹⁰ (5-11) Осуди их, Боже, да падут они от замыслов своих; по множеству нечестия их, отвергни их, ибо они возмутились против Тебя.

¹¹ (5-12) И возрадуются все уповающие на Тебя, вечно будут ликовать, и Ты будешь покровительствовать им; и будут хвалиться Тобою любящие имя Твое.

¹² (5-13) Ибо Ты благословляешь праведника, Господи; благоволением, как щитом, венчаешь его.

Psalm 6

For the music leader. On stringed instruments. According to the eighth.^[a] A psalm of David.

6 Please, Lord,
    don’t punish me when you are angry;
    don’t discipline me when you are furious.
² Have mercy on me, Lord,
    because I’m frail.
Heal me, Lord,
    because my bones are shaking in terror!
³ My whole body^[b] is completely terrified!
        But you, Lord! How long will this last?
⁴ Come back to me, Lord! Deliver me!
    Save me for the sake of your faithful love!
⁵ No one is going to praise you
    when they are dead.
Who gives you thanks
    from the grave?^[c]

⁶ I’m worn out from groaning.
    Every night, I drench my bed with tears;
    I soak my couch all the way through.
⁷ My vision fails because of my grief;
    it’s weak because of all my distress.
⁸ Get away from me, all you evildoers,
    because the Lord has heard me crying!
⁹ The Lord has listened to my request.
    The Lord accepts my prayer.
¹⁰ All my enemies will be ashamed
    and completely terrified;
    they will be defeated
    and ashamed instantly.

² (6-3) Помилуй меня, Господи, ибо я немощен; исцели меня, Господи, ибо кости мои потрясены;

³ (6-4) и душа моя сильно потрясена; Ты же, Господи, доколе?

⁴ (6-5) Обратись, Господи, избавь душу мою, спаси меня ради милости Твоей,

⁵ (6-6) ибо в смерти нет памятования о Тебе: во гробе кто будет славить Тебя?

⁶ (6-7) Утомлен я воздыханиями моими: каждую ночь омываю ложе мое, слезами моими омочаю постель мою.

Psalm 10

Why do you stand so far away, Lord,
    hiding yourself in troubling times?
² Meanwhile, the wicked are proudly
    in hot pursuit of those who suffer.
Let them get caught
    in the very same schemes they’ve thought up!

³ The wicked brag about their body’s^[b] cravings;
    the greedy reject the Lord, cursing.
⁴ At the peak of their wrath,
    the wicked don’t seek God:
    There’s no God—
    that’s what they are always thinking.
⁵ Their ways are always twisted.
        Your rules are too lofty for them.
    They snort at all their foes.
⁶     They think to themselves,
        We’ll never stumble.
        We’ll never encounter any resistance.
⁷ Their mouths are filled
        with curses, dishonesty, violence.
    Under their tongues lie
        troublemaking and wrongdoing.
⁸ They wait in a place perfect for ambush;^[c]
    from their hiding places
    they kill innocent people;
    their eyes spot those who are helpless.
⁹ They lie in ambush
    in secret places,
    like a lion in its lair.
They lie in ambush
    so they can seize those who suffer!
They seize the poor, all right,
    dragging them off in their nets.
¹⁰ Their helpless victims are crushed;
    they collapse, falling prey to the strength of the wicked.
¹¹ The wicked think to themselves:
    God has forgotten.
    God has hidden his face.
    God never sees anything!

¹² Get up, Lord!
    Get your fist ready, God!
    Don’t forget the ones who suffer!
¹³ Why do the wicked reject God?
    Why do they think to themselves
        that you won’t find out?
¹⁴ But you do see!
    You do see troublemaking and grief,
    and you do something about it!
The helpless leave it all to you.
    You are the orphan’s helper.

¹⁵ Break the arms of those
    who are wicked and evil.
Seek out their wickedness
    until there’s no more to find.
¹⁶ The Lord rules forever and always!
    The nations will vanish from his land.

¹⁷ Lord, you listen to the desires of those who suffer.
    You steady their hearts;
you listen closely to them,
¹⁸     to establish justice
        for the orphan and the oppressed,
    so that people of the land
        will never again be terrified.

³ (9-24) Ибо нечестивый хвалится похотью души своей; корыстолюбец ублажает себя.

⁴ (9-25) В надмении своем нечестивый пренебрегает Господа: 'не взыщет'; во всех помыслах его: 'нет Бога!'

⁵ (9-26) Во всякое время пути его гибельны; суды Твои далеки для него; на всех врагов своих он смотрит с пренебрежением;

⁶ (9-27) говорит в сердце своем: 'не поколеблюсь; в род и род не приключится [мне] зла';

⁷ (9-28) уста его полны проклятия, коварства и лжи; под языком--его мучение и пагуба;

⁸ (9-29) сидит в засаде за двором, в потаенных местах убивает невинного; глаза его подсматривают за бедным;

⁹ (9-30) подстерегает в потаенном месте, как лев в логовище; подстерегает в засаде, чтобы схватить бедного; хватает бедного, увлекая в сети свои;

¹⁰ (9-31) сгибается, прилегает, --и бедные падают в сильные когти его;

¹¹ (9-32) говорит в сердце своем: 'забыл Бог, закрыл лице Свое, не увидит никогда'.

¹² (9-33) Восстань, Господи, Боже [мой], вознеси руку Твою, не забудь угнетенных.

¹³ (9-34) Зачем нечестивый пренебрегает Бога, говоря в сердце своем: 'Ты не взыщешь'?

¹⁴ (9-35) Ты видишь, ибо Ты взираешь на обиды и притеснения, чтобы воздать Твоею рукою. Тебе предает себя бедный; сироте Ты помощник.

¹⁵ (9-36) Сокруши мышцу нечестивому и злому, так чтобы искать и не найти его нечестия.

¹⁶ (9-37) Господь--царь на веки, навсегда; исчезнут язычники с земли Его.

¹⁷ (9-38) Господи! Ты слышишь желания смиренных; укрепи сердце их; открой ухо Твое,

Psalm 11

For the music leader. Of David.

11 I have taken refuge in the Lord.
    So how can you say to me,^[a]
    “Flee to the hills like a bird
²         because the wicked
        have already bent their bows;
        they’ve already strung their arrows;
        they are ready to secretly shoot
        those whose heart is right”?
³ When the very bottom of things falls out,
    what can a righteous person possibly accomplish?

⁴ But the Lord is in his holy temple.
    The Lord! His throne is in heaven.
His eyes see—
    his vision examines all of humanity.
⁵ The Lord examines
    both the righteous and the wicked;
    his very being^[b] hates anyone who loves violence.
⁶ God will rain fiery coals and sulfur on the wicked;
    their cups will be filled
    with nothing but a scorching hot wind
⁷     because the Lord is righteous!
    He loves righteous deeds.
    Those whose heart is right will see God’s face.^[c]

³ (10-3) Когда разрушены основания, что сделает праведник?

⁴ (10-4) Господь во святом храме Своем, Господь, --престол Его на небесах, очи Его зрят; вежды Его испытывают сынов человеческих.

⁵ (10-5) Господь испытывает праведного, а нечестивого и любящего насилие ненавидит душа Его.

⁶ (10-6) Дождем прольет Он на нечестивых горящие угли, огонь и серу; и палящий ветер--их доля из чаши;

Words of doom for Israel

3 Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought out of the land of Egypt:

² You only have I loved so deeply
        of all the families of the earth.
    Therefore, I will punish you
        for all your wrongdoing.
³     Will two people walk together
        unless they have agreed to do so?^[a]
4     Does a lion roar in the forest
        when it has no prey?
    Does a young lion cry out from its den
        if it has caught nothing?
⁵     Will a bird fall into a trap on the ground
        when there is no bait for it?
    Will a trap spring up from the ground
        when it has taken nothing?
⁶     If a ram’s horn is blown in a city,
        won’t people tremble?
    If disaster falls on a city,
        is it the Lord who has done it?
⁷     Surely the Lord God does nothing
        without revealing his secret
        to his servants the prophets.

⁸     A lion has roared;
        who will not fear?
    The Lord God has spoken;
        who can but prophesy?
⁹     Proclaim it to the palaces of Ashdod
        and to the palaces in the land of Egypt.
    Say, “Gather yourselves on Mount Samaria,
        and see the great turmoil in the city,
        and what violent deeds are inside it.”
¹⁰ They don’t know how to do right,
says the Lord—
        those who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
¹¹ Therefore, the Lord my God proclaims:
        An enemy will surround the land;
    he will bring you down from your protected places,
        and your palaces will be robbed.

Reminder of the Christian life

¹² So I’ll keep reminding you about these things, although you already know them and stand secure in the truth you have. ¹³ I think it’s right that I keep stirring up your memory, as long as I’m alive. ¹⁴ After all, our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me that I am about to depart from this life. ¹⁵ I’m eager for you always to remember these things after my death.

Christ’s return is true

¹⁶ We didn’t repeat crafty myths when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Quite the contrary, we witnessed his majesty with our own eyes. ¹⁷ He received honor and glory from God the Father when a voice came to him from the magnificent glory, saying, “This is my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well-pleased.” ¹⁸ We ourselves heard this voice from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain. ¹⁹ In addition, we have a most reliable prophetic word, and you would do well to pay attention to it, just as you would to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. ²⁰ Most important, you must know that no prophecy of scripture represents the prophet’s own understanding of things, ²¹ because no prophecy ever came by human will. Instead, men and women led by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

¹⁹ И это делает ещё более достоверными для нас послания пророков. Вы правильно придаёте им значение, потому что они подобны свету, сияющему во тьме, перед тем как настанет день и утренняя звезда воссияет в сердцах ваших. ²⁰ Прежде всего вы должны понять, что ни одно пророчество в Писании не исходит из измышлений пророков, ²¹ потому что пророчество никогда не рождалось из того, что хотел человек сказать, а люди высказывали послания Божьи, движимые Духом Святым.

Matthew 21:12-22

Cleansing the temple

¹² Then Jesus went into the temple and threw out all those who were selling and buying there. He pushed over the tables used for currency exchange and the chairs of those who sold doves. ¹³ He said to them, “It’s written, My house will be called a house of prayer.^[a] But you’ve made it a hideout for crooks.”
¹⁴ People who were blind and lame came to Jesus in the temple, and he healed them. ¹⁵ But when the chief priests and legal experts saw the amazing things he was doing and the children shouting in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were angry. ¹⁶ They said to Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?”
“Yes,” he answered. “Haven’t you ever read, From the mouths of babies and infants you’ve arranged praise for yourself? ^[b]” ¹⁷ Then he left them and went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.

Cursing the fig tree

¹⁸ Early in the morning as Jesus was returning to the city, he was hungry. ¹⁹ He saw a fig tree along the road, but when he came to it, he found nothing except leaves. Then he said to it, “You’ll never again bear fruit!” The fig tree dried up at once.
²⁰ When the disciples saw it, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree dry up so fast?” they asked.
²¹ Jesus responded, “I assure you that if you have faith and don’t doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree. You will even say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the lake.’ And it will happen. ²²  If you have faith, you will receive whatever you pray for.”

Иисус приходит в храм

¹² Иисус вошёл во двор храма и выгнал оттуда всех, кто занимался куплей и продажей в храме. Он опрокинул столы менял и скамьи торговцев голубями ¹³ и сказал им: «В Писании сказано: „Дом Мой будет называться домом молитвенным” ^[a], а вы превратили его в „разбойничье логово”! ^[b]»
¹⁴ И стали к Нему приходить туда в храм слепые и хромые, и Он исцелял их. ¹⁵ Когда главные священники и законники увидели все чудеса, которые Он творил, и услышали, как дети в храме восклицают: «Осанна Сыну Давидову!» — они вознегодовали ¹⁶ и сказали Ему: «Ты слышишь, что они говорят?»
Иисус им ответил: «Да. Разве вы никогда не читали в Писании:

„В уста детей и младенцев вложил Ты слова хвалы” ^[c]».

¹⁷ И Он ушёл оттуда и пошёл в город Вифанию, где остановился на ночь.

Иисус говорит о силе веры

¹⁸ Утром, когда Иисус возвращался в город, Он почувствовал, что голоден. ¹⁹ Увидев у дороги одинокое фи́говое дерево, Он подошёл к нему, но не нашёл на нём ничего, кроме листьев. Тогда Он сказал дереву: «Пусть же ты никогда больше не принесёшь никаких плодов». И фи́говое дерево тотчас засохло.
²⁰ Увидев это, ученики удивились и сказали: «Как это фи́говое дерево вмиг засохло?»
²¹ Иисус ответил: «Правду вам говорю: если будете верить и не усомнитесь, то не только сможете сделать то, что произошло с этим фи́говым деревом, но если скажете этой горе: „Поднимись и бросься в море”, то так и случится. ²² И всё, о чём просите в молитвах, будет дано вам, если вы веруете».
