God Our Refuge

God is our refuge and strength,
a helper who is always found
in times of trouble.
 

² Therefore we will not be afraid,
though the earth trembles
and the mountains topple
into the depths of the seas,
³ though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with its turmoil.Selah

⁴ There is a river—
its streams delight the city of God,
the holy dwelling place of the Most High.
⁵ God is within her; she will not be toppled.
God will help her when the morning dawns.
⁶ Nations rage, kingdoms topple;
the earth melts when He lifts His voice.
⁷ The Lord of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.Selah

⁸ Come, see the works of the Lord,
who brings devastation on the earth.
⁹ He makes wars cease throughout the earth.
He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces;
He burns up the chariots.^[b]
 

¹⁰ “Stop your fighting—and know that I am God,
exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”
 

¹¹ Yahweh of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.Selah

² (45-3) посему не убоимся, хотя бы поколебалась земля, и горы двинулись в сердце морей.

³ (45-4) Пусть шумят, вздымаются воды их, трясутся горы от волнения их.

⁴ (45-5) Речные потоки веселят град Божий, святое жилище Всевышнего.

⁵ (45-6) Бог посреди его; он не поколеблется: Бог поможет ему с раннего утра.

⁶ (45-7) Восшумели народы; двинулись царства: [Всевышний] дал глас Свой, и растаяла земля.

⁷ (45-8) Господь сил с нами, Бог Иакова заступник наш.

⁸ (45-9) Придите и видите дела Господа, --какие произвел Он опустошения на земле:

The Majestic King

The Lord reigns! Let the earth rejoice;
let the many coasts and islands be glad.

² Clouds and thick darkness surround Him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
 

³ Fire goes before Him and burns up His foes on every side. ⁴ His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. ⁵ The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord— at the presence of the Lord of all the earth.

⁶ The heavens proclaim His righteousness;
all the peoples see His glory.

⁷ All who serve carved images,
those who boast in idols, will be put to shame.
All the gods^[a] must worship Him.

⁸ Zion hears and is glad,
and the towns^[b] of Judah rejoice
because of Your judgments, Lord.
⁹ For You, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; You are exalted above all the gods.

¹⁰ You who love the Lord, hate evil!
He protects the lives of His godly ones;
He rescues them from the power of the wicked.
¹¹ Light dawns^[c][d] for the righteous, gladness for the upright in heart. ¹² Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous ones, and praise His holy name.^[e]

⁵ (96-5) Горы, как воск, тают от лица Господа, от лица Господа всей земли.

 King of the Earth

Sing a new song to the Lord;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
² Sing to Yahweh, praise His name; proclaim His salvation from day to day. ³ Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all peoples.

⁴ For the Lord is great and is highly praised;
He is feared above all gods.
⁵ For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. ⁶ Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

⁷ Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
⁸ Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of His name;
bring an offering and enter His courts. ⁹ Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth.

¹⁰ Say among the nations: “The Lord reigns.
The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken.
He judges the peoples fairly.”
¹¹ Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let the sea and all that fills it resound. ¹² Let the fields and everything in them exult. Then all the trees of the forest will shout for joy ¹³ before the Lord, for He is coming— for He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with His faithfulness.

Be Thankful

A psalm of thanksgiving. 

¹ Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth.

² Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. ³ Acknowledge that Yahweh is God. He made us, and we are His^[a] — His people, the sheep of His pasture. ⁴ Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. ⁵ For Yahweh is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations.

The Servant Brings Salvation

Coastlands,^[a] listen to me;
distant peoples, pay attention.
The Lord called me before I was born.
He named me while I was in my mother’s womb.
 

² He made my words like a sharp sword;
He hid me in the shadow of His hand. He made me like a sharpened arrow; He hid me in His quiver.  

³ He said to me, “You are My Servant, Israel; I will be glorified in him.”  

⁴ But I myself said: I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and futility; yet my vindication is with the Lord, and my reward is with my God.  

⁵ And now, says the Lord, who formed me from the womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him so that Israel might be gathered to Him; for I am honored in the sight of the Lord, and my God is my strength—  

⁶ He says, “It is not enough for you to be My Servant raising up the tribes of Jacob and restoring the protected ones of Israel. I will also make you a light for the nations, to be My salvation to the ends of the earth.”  

⁷ This is what the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people,^[b] to a servant of rulers:  

“Kings will see and stand up, and princes^[c] will bow down, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel—and He has chosen you.”

Revelation 21:22-27 -- Holman Christian Standard Bible

 I did not see a sanctuary in it, because the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its sanctuary. ²³ The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because God’s glory illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 The nations^[a] will walk in its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.^[b] 25 Each day its gates will never close because it will never be night there. ²⁶ They will bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.^{[c] 27} Nothing profane will ever enter it: no one who does what is vile or false, but only those written in the Lamb’s book of life.

So he got up, took the child and His mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt. ¹⁵ He stayed there until Herod’s death, so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: Out of Egypt I called My Son.^[a]

The Massacre of the Innocents

¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he had been outwitted by the wise men, flew into a rage. He gave orders to massacre all the male children in and around Bethlehem who were two years^[b] old and under, in keeping with the time he had learned from the wise men. ¹⁷ Then what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:

¹⁸ A voice was heard in Ramah,
weeping,^[c] and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children;
and she refused to be consoled,
because they were no more.^[d]

The Holy Family in Nazareth

¹⁹ After Herod died, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, ²⁰ saying, “Get up! Take the child and His mother and go to the land of Israel, because those who sought the child’s life are dead.” ²¹ So he got up, took the child and His mother, and entered the land of Israel.
